Details

Due to some of the latest Security Updates for Windows 7 from Microsoft, icons are not shown in feature menus.
In some cases this problem also can be found in Microsoft Outlook.

The combination of the following factors are causing the problem.
- The three security updates:
     Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based-Systems (KB4036733)
     2017-08 Security Only Quality Update for Windows7 for x64-based-Systems (KB4034679)
     2017-08 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows7 for x64-based-Systems (KB4034664)
- The use of multiple displays where the left display is not the primary display.

In some cases this has also been found when running NX 8.5 or using the older "classic" user interface.



Solution

Uninstall all the updates one-by-one and NX and Outlook will work as expected again.


Another workaround is set the left display as the primary display.
   o Right click on your desktop, then choose "Screen resolution".
   o Choose the screen on the left and check the box labelled "Make this my main display". Then select "Apply" in the bottom right corner. 


Your primary monitor (which contains the task bar) will now be on the left.
