How can I adjust the angle tolerance used to select tangent facets in Polygon Modeling?

Summary

Details

When working in the Polygon Modeling environment there should be a way to control the angle tolerance on the selection tool when working with faceted geometry and the user need to select a bunch of tangent facets.

The "Primitive Facets" selection method seems to work to a degree in some cases (where actual primitive shapes exist), but when user needs to select larger chunks of facets having similar orientation the "Tangent Facets" selection seems to work poorly or at least with a fixed internal tolerance.

Can we change the angle tolerance of what is deemed to be "tangent" for this option?

Solution

Users can find that piece of information about Facet Region selection in the NX on-line help. e.g. here for the Divide Facet Face dialog.

Basically you can adjust it here, at the bottom of the Selection preferences dialog, Ctrl+Shift+T, by default preset to 5°.

Thus when set to 1° you will get this selecting a random facet in the middle of this polygon model.

Lowering the Tangency Tolerance to 0.5° a smaller selection is expected.
