SHA256 Usage to Validate Media Downloads

Not sure if the download of the media files was successful

1. Download your software of choice from the Downloads Site.

2. If you are having issues for an install, or want to be sure the file on your system is the size it was on our Download Site, you'll see a file with the same name with an extension of SHA256 that represents the file size for the chosen software.

3. Download the files to the same folder and inside the SHA256 file is the name of the Zip or 7z file that the checksum references.

4. Using 7z since it's an open source software and very commonly used, you can check the file to see that it matches the checksum.

5. When in the file folder with the 2 files in it, select the SHA256 file.

6. RMB (Right Mouse Button) context menu and select 7-zip / CRC SHA / Test Archive… and it will return if the file matches what is expected.

7. When the file matches, the information returned is the following dialog.

8. When the Checksum doesn't match, the error is shown below.
