After importing geometry into NX as a Facet body this needs to be converted to a convergent body to allow further operations to be performed. When using the Convert Facet body command this fails with the error "The object supplied was not a valid faceted model". How can the facet body be corrected and successfully converted to a Convergent Body?
Sometimes facet bodies can contain invalid geometry which prevents their conversion to a Convergent body. To assist with the identification and correction of these problems there is a Cleanup Facet Body command available. The steps to use this are as described below:
1 - Convert the facet to NX Body Type
2 - Start the Cleanup Facet Body command (Menu > Edit > Facet Body > Cleanup...)
3 - Select the Facet Body and then Next
4 - Select Analyze
The results will be displayed in the Result Field and the geometry highlighted in the relevant colour in the display
5 - Click the Repair Button and NX will attempt to resolve the problematic geometry. This will not always correct all issues, the new results will be displayed in the field.
6 - Select Finish after reviewing outstanding issues and possibly removing regions or filling holes
7 - Repaired Geometry can now be converted to Convergent Bodies without error
