Users report that certain STEP files fail to import into Solid Edge, resulting in an empty window with no geometry displayed after the import process.
The issue is caused by invalid STEP file formatting. The customer-provided STEP file lacks the "ENDSEC" keyword to close out the HEADER section, which is required by the STEP file format standard.
Steps to resolve:
1. Verify the integrity of the STEP file by testing it in other CAD applications such as the NIST STEP File Analyzer or other CAD software, e.g. FreeCAD. If the file fails to load correctly in these tools, it confirms that the file itself is invalid.
2. Manually inspect the STEP file format by checking the HEADER section for proper closure with an "ENDSEC" keyword:
