What is the port number used by the Solid Edge Cloud gateway?

Solution

The Solid Edge Cloud gateway does not use a specific port number. It operates over HTTPS and communicates with AWS servers. To ensure connectivity, you must allow traffic to and from *.amazonaws.com in your network rules.

You can use a third-party network analysis tool such as Sysinternals TCPView to monitor the local and remote ports being used by the Solid Edge Cloud Gateway executable. Note the local ports being used in the following capture:

This tool will show that the local ports used by Solid Edge Cloud licensing change dynamically, as part of the operating system's network processing. Note in the following capture that the port numbers are different from the previous capture shown:

It also validates that the remote host always uses port 443, which is the recognized standard port for HTTPS traffic. Note in all the captures the remote port 433 is always used:`

Notes
  • No specific port configuration is required.
    • Network configuration must permit HTTPS traffic to AWS services.
      • Local ports are dynamic, and the remote host always uses port 443.
