In this example, the user is experiencing slow saving of draft files in Solid Edge. When trying to save a new empty draft, Solid Edge becomes unresponsive for several minutes. This issue occurs when the user takes the computer offsite, such as working from home, or at a customer's location. The files the user is working on are saved locally, not on a network drive.
SolutionThe creation of viewer data in the file uses the printer driver associated with the default printer on the computer. Try to resolve the slow saving issue in Solid Edge as follows:
Either disable the "Include Draft View data in file" option:
- Open Solid Edge.
- Go to Options > General.
- Uncheck the "Include Draft View data in file" option.
- Click OK to save the changes.
Or set the default printer to one that is reachable:
- Open the Control Panel on the computer.
- Go to Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on the desired default printer and select "Set as default printer".
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, please contact support and provide the draft and a SESysInfo.log file written while the issue occurs.
