Details

A component does not show in the top assembly.

After adding a component to a subassembly, then the component is not visible in top-assembly. However, when the sub assembly is opened the component does show correctly.

Somehow some objects of the component seems to be visible (like CSys) and can be moved, but the geometry is not visible.

Possible corrective actions which did not help to visualize the expected geometry:

  • Fit the view;
    • Un-blank all >> the component does not show;
      • Layers (all visible), and with Visible in View is nothing excluded;
        • Add Reference Set column in ANT. Check and set all components to reference set entire part. Especially (sub-)assembly reference set may exclude components;
          • Check properties of the component. If Non Geometric you would have noticed in the ANT;
            • Check Arrangements >> only default arrangement was present, nothing hidden;

              Solution

              Turn OFF Clip Section solved the issue. Find this in the View ribbon or via Menu >> View >> Clip Section. Notice the grey background of the icon, which means it is active.

              Other solution is when another view (in the top-assembly)  is opened which does not have Clip Section set. The view had Clip Section turned on and the component geometry was outside the visible area, and therefore invisible. A tiny detail which might easily be forgotten.
