Solid Edge Renaming Parts with Identical File Names in Solid Edge Design Manager

Users encounter an issue when renaming parts with identical file names within assemblies in Solid Edge Design Manager. When a part in an assembly is renamed, only the selected part is renamed successfully. Identical parts within sub-assemblies remain unchanged and generate a "file not found" error.

The issue occurs because the option "Update duplicate documents in tree" is turned off in the Design Manager options.

When this option is disabled, only the selected instance of the document within the tree will be updated during the rename operation.

When this option is enabled, all instances of the document within the tree will be updated during the rename operation, not just the selected document.

Solution:

To ensure all identical parts are renamed:

1. Open Solid Edge Design Manager.
2. Go to Design Manager Options > General.
3. Enable the option "Update duplicate documents in tree."
