When users attempt to print a screen that includes measurement boxes via the "Print to Paper" dialog in Solid Edge, the measurement boxes do not appear in the print preview or the final printout. The measurement boxes are visible on the screen during the "Measure" command but are not included in the print output. Users can only capture these measurement boxes using screen capture tools
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open any model in Solid Edge.
2. Go to the "Inspect" tab and select "Measure."
3. Create some measurements; measurement boxes are shown on the screen.
4. Go to "File" and select "Print to Paper."
5. The print preview shows only the 3D geometry without the measurement boxes.
Explanation:
The behavior observed is working as designed. Measurement boxes are user interface (UI) dialog box elements that are not considered graphical elements. These boxes can be repositioned and interacted with like other UI elements in Solid Edge. When the "Measure" command is active, these boxes are visible on the screen. However, upon initiating the "Print to Paper" command, Solid Edge does not display or print these UI elements, including the measurement boxes, in the print output.
Solution:
To include measurement boxes in printed documents, use a screen capture tool to take a screenshot of the desired view. PLMS uses Greenshot, a third-party screenshot application available at Greenshot. Other similar screenshot tools can also be used to capture the screen with the measurement boxes visible.
Additional Information:
If users require the functionality to print measurement boxes directly from Solid Edge, it is recommended to submit an Enhancement Request (ER) form to request this feature. This will notify the development team of the desired functionality for consideration in future updates.
