Solid Edge Correct Method to Print 3D Models with Accurate Scaling in PDF

When attempting to print a 3D model with PMI dimensions as a PDF using the "Ctrl+P" and "Microsoft Print to PDF" method, the dimensions in the resulting PDF are much smaller than in the original 3D model. The customer expects the PDF to match the dimensions shown in the 3D model exactly.

The issue arises because the "Microsoft Print to PDF" driver does not handle the scaling of 3D model dimensions correctly. To generate a PDF that accurately represents the 3D model with the correct scaling, use the following steps:

1. Open the 3D Model in Solid Edge:

• Ensure the 3D model with the smart dimensions is open in Solid Edge.

2. Save As Translated PDF:

• Go to the menu and select File.

• Choose Save As Translated.

• Select PDF from the options.

3. Check the Output:

• This method should provide a PDF with the correct dimensions and scaling as seen in the 3D model.

By using the "Save As Translated" option, the generated PDF should maintain the accurate dimensions and scaling from the 3D model, ensuring the printed document meets the customer's expectations.
