Solid Edge Inheriting Properties of Occurrences in a Group Within an Assembly

A customer requested the ability to assign properties of occurrences to a group within an assembly in Solid Edge. The desired functionality includes:

1. Selecting a group of occurrences in an assembly.
2. Assigning event properties (e.g., Higher Level "Yes") to the entire group so that all group members inherit these properties.
3. Automatically assigning these default properties to any new parts added to the group.
4. Removing the properties from any parts that leave the group.

Currently, the properties must be reassigned individually for each new part added to the group.

The requested functionality is partially achievable using the existing workflow in Solid Edge, although it requires manual steps. Here is how to do it:

1. Expand the Assembly:

Right-click on the top-level assembly and select "Expand All".

2. Change the Occurrence Property:

Select one of the occurrence property values you want to change and modify it as needed.

3. Copy the Occurrence Property Value:

Right-click on the changed value and select "Copy". Alternatively, you can use Ctrl + C.

4. Select Multiple Occurrences:

Select all other occurrences you want to change to the same value. Use the Shift key to select contiguous occurrences or the Ctrl key to select individual occurrences.

5. Paste the Copied Value:

Right-click on any of the selected occurrences and select "Paste". Alternatively, you can use Ctrl + V.

All selected occurrences will now have the desired property value.

Additional Information

There is an existing Enhancement Request (ER) for the functionality where all children in a sub-assembly automatically inherit the occurrence properties of the containing sub-assembly parent.
