Summary

Details

A customer using Solid Edge with an academic license created parts they want to load into a Solid Edge commercial version. They are seeking a method to accomplish this without saving the files as Parasolid files.

Solution

Files created in Solid Edge academic versions cannot be directly opened in Solid Edge commercial versions. To transfer the models, the following steps must be taken:

  1. Use Solid Edge translators to export the models as Parasolid files (.x_t or .x_b formats).
    1. For drawings, export them as DXF files.

These exported files can then be imported into the Solid Edge commercial version.
