Details

Users want to hide the Dataset Name and Dataset Description columns in the SEEC Common Property Dialog (CPD) to allow more space for displaying other important properties. These columns are usually not changed by the user and are assigned automatically to the ItemID/ItemRev.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Start Solid Edge and log into Teamcenter (TC).
    1. Create a new part and save it.
      1. Assign All. Notice that Dataset Name equals ItemID/ItemRev, and Dataset Description is empty.
        1. Right-click (RMB) on the column header and select Columns. There is no checkbox to hide these properties.
          Solution

Although the Dataset Name and Description columns are required properties and cannot be hidden using a checkbox, there is an acceptable workaround to achieve the desired effect. Users can set the width of these columns to zero, which will essentially hide them. If the columns need to be restored, use the Auto-fit option to reset their width.

          Steps to Hide Columns:

          1. Right-click on the column header.
            1. Select Column Properties.
              1. Set the width of the Dataset Name and Dataset Description columns to zero.

                Steps to Restore Columns:

                1. Right-click on the column header.
                  1. Select Auto-fit to restore the zero-width columns to their default width.
