NX How to stream down the listing of Item Types drop down for File New command when using the Blank template

In the File New command in managed NX session, when using the Blank template it allows choices of item type to be used with it. This choice of item type is in the form of a drop down listing.

This listing can be lengthy with extended choices of item types. Is there a way to stream down this list to show only the item types that are commonly used?

There is a Teamcenter preferences that controls what item types are shown in the drop down listing for Blank template's item type.
