Siemens Digital Industries Software consolidated our support sites to Support Center in the spring of 2020. Along with the other support resources available on Support Center, we began to host online help documentation for our software products on the same server.
Previously, documentation for many products was hosted on a separate server known as the Doc Server (aka the Doc Server).
To provide a consistent user experience, some documentation for older releases (prior to 2020) was re-hosted on the Support Center. This allows users to browse documentation for multiple releases on the same server.
However, the original documentation is still maintained on the old Doc Server (e.g. for NX as going back to NX 11, for Teamcenter going back to Tc 10, Solid Edge back to SE10, etc...).
This approach was taken because the URLs for context-sensitive help are typically part of the source code for most products. When a user opens context-sensitive help (e.g. pressing F1 or clicking on "?" in a UI element), those help pages will still launch from the old Doc Server.
This approach has been maintained for over 4 years.
Recently, the IT staff informed us that the hardware supporting the old Doc Server needs to be retired.
To continue supporting customers who may still require context-sensitive help for old releases, we plan to redirect URL requests for old Doc Server help pages to the new server. We aim for this transition to be seamless for most customers, but wanted to inform you in case you notice any changes.
