Solid Edge Standard Parts Should Not Be Given an Article Number

In this example, the customer is using Solid Edge Data Management and has the option to automatically generate document numbers turned on.

The issue is that the parts from the Standard Parts installation should not be given an article number.

When a Standard Part is loaded, it automatically receives an article number.

However, the customer only wants to use article numbers for their own parts.Is there a setting that switches off the creation of the article number for Standard Parts?

Document Number is a "special" field for document management, so be careful when using this for something else.  We cannot change the auto-numbering using this property, however there is a workaround to add custom values in the Document Number:

Modify the Document Number in the Database Administrator before you generate the part.

1) Launch the Part Editor -> enter a value for the Document Number.

In Solid Edge place this part  - the first time this is done the article number will be generated.
