Summary

Details

The Maximum Material Condition symbol is not located next to the stated tolerance.  The Projected tolerance modifier is in place of MMC.

Solution

Please review the demonstration video along with the detailed steps below.

This is an enhancement introduced in NX 2212 to allow for GD&T Symbol Sequence Control.

Please note, the ASME and ESKD standards already have the material condition listed at the top of the Symbol Sequence list, but this procedure will apply to any GD&T symbols.

1. Open your Customer Defaults by going to File -> Utilities -> Customer Defaults. In the left column, select Drafting -> General/Setup and click on the Customize Standard button located under the Standard tab in the main dialog.

2. Click on the plus sign to expand the Annotation group, select GDT, and click on the Workflow tab in the main dialog.

3. Find and select the symbol that you want to reorder and use the Move Up & Move Down arrows next to the scroll bar. For example, select Material Condition and move it to the top of the list if you always want it to appear before tolerance modifiers.

4. Once the sequence is correctly ordered, use the Save As button at the bottom right of the dialog to create a new standard, or use the Save button to save an already modified standard. The Save As option will prompt you to a dialog to name your standard, and you will need to click OK in this dialog to return to the standard dialog.

5. After the standard has been saved, click Cancel in the dialog, and you will be returned to the Customer Defaults dialog where you will click OK. NX will need to be restarted for this change to take effect.

6. This completes the setup for modifying the GD&T Symbol Sequence in your drafting Standard. If you have existing Feature Control Frames that you would like to update with the new sequence, please proceed to the next step.

7. Open your Drafting Preferences by going to Menu -> Preferences -> Drafting Preferences.

8. Click on the plus sign in the left column for Annotation and select GD&T.

9. In the main dialog, click the button on the far right of the dialog for Synchronize Symbol Sequence.

10. Your existing FCFs should now reflect the change for the GD&T Symbol Sequence.
