Solid Edge Weldment Annotation Does Not Update Correctly When Stitch Weld Modified

Details

In this example,  the user has an assembly with a Stitch Weld defined.

The Gap length is 4mm and the Bead length is 22mm.

They then create a drawing of the assembly and place a 'Weld Symbol' annotation on the weld using 'Tie to geometry'.

In the assembly they modify the Stitch Weld - changing the Gap length to 6mm and Bead length to 17mm.

However, when the Drawing View is updated the 'Weld Symbol' annotation does not appear correct.

Solution

The problem is that the 'Annotation' in the Stitch Weld Options has been incorrectly defined.  The user has selected 'N x L' - where 'N' = number of weld beads, mistakenly believing that 'N' corresponds to the Gap length (which is understandable given the previous number of welds was 4 and the Gap length was also 4).

Therefore, when they apply the 'Weld Symbol' annotation on the drawing and use 'Tie to geometry', that will be reflected in the annotation as the number of welds is 5 and the Bead length is 17mm.

In order to include the Gap length, the user needs to modify the Stitch Weld Annotation to be N x L (E) - where 'E' represents the Gap length.

Now when drawing is updated the corresponding annotation of the 'Weld Symbol' will be correct.
