Summary

Details

Is there a tool in NX to check if a mentioned reference set contains only certain permitted object type(s)?

Example Conditions:
 - Report success if at least one of the specified object type exists in the specified reference set.
 - Report failure if none of specified type exists.
 - Report if there is an excluded object type appearing in that reference set.

Solution

Use this check mate test located here: Template > File Structure > Check Single Reference Set/Object Mapping

Be sure to edit this test to contain following option values:

Reference Set Name = user needs to type in the exact name of the Reference Set to check against.

Object Type= Highlight the object type that should exists in the reference set.

Toggle ON “Only allow specified type”.

Toggle ON “At least one valid member exist?”.

Notes

A good example use case of this tool would be:

Designer intent to have a reference set called Model that only contains solid bodies, and no curves or datum objects, so when that file is a component of an assembly, using this reference set helps improve the visual of the assembly by showing only solid geometry on the screen.

Admin can run this tool to ensure that a specified reference set has only the proper object, the solid body. If the test fails, the data is returned to the designer to correct the contents of that reference set.
