How to Create Part Lists for metric and English files.
Please see NX video and detailed instructions below.
The instructions below must be carried out for both metric and English files. Copy and Paste of the Parts List can be done to carry over Parts List settings/format if the environment variable UGII_UPDATE_ALL_ID_SYMBOLS_WITH_PLIST is set to 0.
1. With your drawing open (metric or English) and the Parts List formatted, place your cursor at the upper left-hand corner of the Parts List until the box with the plus sign appears. Right mouse button click on it and select Save As Template.
2. Navigate to the location where you want to save the template and enter the file name and click OK.
3. Make sure the file name is the same for both metric and English templates. Please note that NX will automatically append _english and _metric to the Parts List file name.
4. Please have both the File Explorer and NX window open side-by-side. Copy the directory path where the template is located from the File Explorer window and open the Customer Defaults in NX (File -> Utilities -> Customer Defaults).
5. In the Customer Defaults, select Drafting -> General/Setup and click on Customize Standard. Please make sure your drafting standard is selected from the drop-down menu next to the Customize Standard button.
6. Expand the Table group in the left column and select Parts List.
7. Paste the directory path from step 4 into the Default Parts List: Native Mode box and include the file name minus the appended .prt and _English/_metric. For example, D:\Part File Template\template
8. Select ‘Save’ in the lower right corner of the Customize Drafting Standard dialog if you have an existing customized drafting standard or ‘Save As’ if you need to create a new customized drafting standard.
9. Once the drafting standard has been saved, click Cancel to return to the Customer Defaults and click OK. You must restart NX for the settings to take effect.
