Solution

This is a troubleshooting checklist.

Client side:

- The rrs.xml points to the RCS client (one dedicated entry per version).
This file is located under the Tecnomatix installation: eMPower / Robotics / OLP
   Example:

- Have the latest rcsabb_tune.exe. If in doubt, download it (it's called TuneAddOn) from support center.

RCS Modules V7.0

- Have the latest ABB Robotic Controller which is provided by Siemens and available in support center (it depends on your Tecnomatix version).
Tecnomatix Doctor displays the installed version under "Installed Products / Customized Applications".

- Point to the RCS server machine in the RCS client, this is set in the rcsaddr.txt file located under each rcs client.
Default value is "localhost" which works as it is, when the RCS server is installed in the same client machine.

Server side:

- RCS server bat file (or service) must be running.

- When working with the bat files to run the RCS server or license (instead of services), make sure you modified the content of the bat files.

rcsabb_lmgrd_sample_start.bat

rcsabb_rcsserv_sample_start.bat

- The server folders must be in the same location.
RCS version is 5.13 is used as an example, where the folders ahead must be in the same location.

  rcsabb_rw5_0_6_0.common
  rcsabb_rw5.13.02.irc5

- When using services and running into an issue, you could instead try to turn off the services, prepare and run the bat files, to see it works better.

- An ABB active license is not needed to initialize the rcs, as a test, you can try to setup the RCS server in the client machine, instead of a separate server to discard network issues. You will get license prompts but you can fill up the dialog until it goes away.
