Is it possible to set the status of a Solid Edge Standard Part component so that a user has write access?
Currently, the Standard Parts are READ ONLY.
SolutionTo clarify the READ ONLY status on Standard Parts: in the Standard Parts Management Administrator you choose whether you want to release the generated Standard Parts.
If you choose not to release them, they are AVAILABLE READ ONLY. Hence, generated Standard Parts are either RELEASED or AVAILABLE READ ONLY.
In both cases, if you want to modify a Standard Part, it is the intended behavior to use the 'Copy to working folder'-option.
The working folder is either the defined working folder location or the assembly folder. This option gives you a copy of the Standard Parts that the user can modify while the original Standard Part remains READ ONLY/ RELEASED in the Standard Parts folder and cannot be modified. That way it remains a Standard Part per definition and other users can still place that original Standard Part.
NotesLast but not least, there is the Solid Edge Data Preparation Tool which allows you to 'Set Write Access' or 'Set File Status'.
In order to do so, you start the tool and following the described workflow in the tool, create an import list of files which gives you an excel spreadsheet including macros.
Important: Make sure to not use this tool on the parent parts but only on the generated Standard Parts. You can use the same tool to set the parts to READ ONLY/ RELEASED when the modifications are done.
