Receive "The following error occurred: Failed to connect to the other application" when attempting to launch NX from Teamcenter.

Solution

This problem may be caused by an entry in the registry under the "Running Applications" folder. The entry could be caused by an NX session that was started from portal and crashed.

To test this, exit all sessions of NX, then check the "Running Applications" folder and see if there's an entry that should not be there. You can try deleting  the entry to see if it resolves this problem.

You can also take another approach by renaming the "Running Applications" folder, e.g. "Original Running Applications".  The "Running Applications" folder will get recreated in the registry.

Notes

Be extremely careful when making edits in the Registry Editor.
