Summary

Details

NX 2312 does not display the "Constraint" option in the "Move Component" and "Add Component" dialog. Is there a way to display it?

Reproduced Steps:

1. Load(open) assembly

2. Assemblies tab > Move Component (, or Add Component)

*** "By Constraints" does not exist in the dialog.

*** *** "Constrain" does not exist in the dialog.

Solution

The behavior is working as designed.

The cause is that the following option for Early Access Feature is set to Off. By setting it to On, can display "By Constraints" ("Constrain") option in the dialog.

File > Utilities > Early Access Feature... > “Enable the ‘By Constraints” option in Move Component and Add Component dialogs”=On

*** "By Constraint" is displayed in the dialog after the setting=On.

*** "Constrain" is displayed in the dialog after the setting=On.

Notes

The default of this option in Early Access Feature has been changed since NX 2312 because of the following reasons.

1. That particular constraints menu is inconsistent with the new constraints UI.

2. this concept of having dialogs within other dialogs doesn’t fit with the modern UI standards.

Note : Components can still be moved without creating constraints. The user can turn off the Create Persistent Constraints toggle in the assembly ribbon and then use the new constraint commands without creating constraints(Assemblies tab > Position > More > Create Persistent Constraints > turning the toggle button OFF).
