Solution

Several customers have reported that when importing STEP files into Solid Edge the STEP file opens but no geomtery is imported.

Investigation has determined that some STEP files being provided have a syntax formatting error within the STEP schema.

Manually editing the STEP file to correct the syntax will resolve the issue and allow the STEP file to correct import into Solid Edge.

Open the STEP file into a text editor tool.

Locate the line containing the FILE_DESCRIPTION keyword:

Change the line from FILE_DESCRIPTION((''), '2;1');1'); to FILE_DESCRIPTION((""), "2;1");

Save the file.

The file will now import with geometry into Solid Edge.
