Summary

Details

Some users have difficulties to define and customize tables in environment Drafting.

Solution

The good usage of the resources to define styles and columns configuration allows users to create templates and styles that can be reuse through the whole workflow.

To generate different tables, there are two resources which can be combined:

1- Table Styles

2- Table Configuration files.

TABLE STYLES

Under the tab VIEW, the button STYLES opens the window that allows create and modify among others, the table style:

The "Normal " style is present by default.

Creating a new table style means that a new set of specific thickness, color and pattern of lines can be defined in order to be applied to different parts of a given table.

1- The name for the new style must be typed in. The new style can be based on the normal one or another one previously created.

2- Under the "Line" tab, the style of each line used to visualize the table can be defined.

NOTE: the table scheme (columns and content) cannot be defined at this point, only line styles for titles, headers and columns.

3- Under the "Text" tab, text styles such as "Normal" and others previously created can be assigned to titles, headers and data shown in columns:

IMPORTANT:

The table styles (and the rest of the styles) are always contained in the DFT file.

To be able of sharing the styles, the DFT file can be used as a template or can be transferred to a MATERIAL.MTL file.

TABLE CONFIGURATION FILES

Usually, table configuration files cannot be manually modified or created, but through Part List Properties window.

Take a look at the default Parts List table below:

By right-clicking over the Part List table, a context menu appears. Choose "Properties".

On the Part List Properties go to the "Columns" tab and make the changes as needed (e.g. add/remove/reorder/width).

Then, go to the "General" tab, and type in a name for the new configuration into the text box "Saved settings" and click on "Save".

When a new parts list table configuration is saved, its parameters are written to the "DraftList.txt" file, usually located in the Solid Edge installation folder (e.g.  C:\Siemens\Solid Edge 2024\Template\Reports). This file can be easily edited if required.

Notes

DraftList.txt file can be shared over the along with the Solid Edge templates and Material.mtl file.
