Solution

See the above video for the procedure for using the new Copy Non-Associative command.

Using the Copy Non-Associative Command

1.       Open the Model.

2.       In the Top Border Bar, change the Selection Filter to match the features to be copied.

3.       Select the desired features on the model.

4.       In the Top Border Bar, choose Menu -> Edit -> Copy Non-Associative.

5.       In the background of the Display, right click.

6.       Select either Paste or Paste Special.

-          Paste: If the objects on the clipboard are faces or non-associative points/curves, they are pasted directly into the model at the same position relative to the WCS. This can be altered by first moving the WCS.

-          Paste Special:  Can be used to alter the orientation or work layer of the pasted object.

-          Note: When pasting copied objects, NX doesn’t ask for parent references to be resolved for the copied object.

7.       For Paste Special, select the handles of the axis that appears to manipulate the pasted object’s location.

8.       Once finished, in the Paste Special dialog, click OK.

Using the Move Object Command on Bodies Created with the Copy Non-Associative Command

1.       In the Top Border Bar, choose Menu -> Edit -> Move Object.

2.       In the Part Navigator, select the desired body.

3.       Select and move the handles of the axis to change the position of the object to change its orientation.

4.       Click OK.

Demonstrating Non-Associativity

1.       In the Part Navigator, double click on a feature copied using Copy Non-Associative command.

2.       Change the parameters.

3.       Note that the Body created using Copy Non-Associative remains unchanged.
