This article addresses being unable to successfully generate a valid floating license file for Solid Edge 2019 and prior versions. The use cases in which you would want to generate a new Solid Edge 2019 license file include, but are not limited to the following:
If a customer wants to run a Solid Edge version that is prior to Solid Edge using the Common Licensing Toolkit (CLT) then the customer must own legacy a Solid Edge product that allows for creating a license against a Host ID/MAC address.
The version of Solid Edge that started supporting CLT was Solid Edge 2020. Solid Edge 2019 and earlier versions do not support CLT.
New valid floating license files for Solid Edge 2019 and earlier versions can only be generated if the core base Solid Edge products are identified as "unique host id" products. If the core base Solid Edge products are not unique host id products then it is not possible to generate a new valid floating license file for Solid Edge 2019 or earlier versions.
In order to generate a valid floating license for Solid Edge 2019 or earlier versions the customer must either own, purchase, or trade in their CLT Solid Edge products for the comparable Solid Edge products with the unique host id method as listed in the Pricebook:
This is fully documented in the Pricebook where for these products, it clearly states the following:
This is a legacy product that should only be used in sales situations involving customers wanting to run Solid Edge 2019 and prior versions.
It is important to note:
Ordering a core base product that is not from the list above and trying to run Solid Edge 2019 or earlier will result in a non valid license file being generated
For Solid Edge 2020 and newer versions please order the appropriate concurrent usage product.
