How do you add a custom material to an existing Site MatML library?

Solution

In the Customer Defaults under Gateway -> Materials/Mass -> Locations:

Set the Site and User Material Library Format to Single MatML File (this will need to be changed to Directory of MatML Files if more than one material library is created).

Toggle on the Enable option.

Set a Site Material Library path/name in the Windows field under the MatML File Name section. This file may or may not exist at this stage. It will be the file name that you save your custom materials to.

Toggle on Allow Local Materials under the Local Materials section.

Restart NX to enable the new defaults.

To create and save a user-defined material:

Select Tools and under the Utilities section, select More -> Manage Materials.

Select the Create icon at the bottom and fill in the required name/parameters -> OK.

Select Tools and under the Utilities section, select More -> Material Library Manager.

Set the Material List dropdown to Local Materials.

Select the new material(s) -> MB3 -> Export Material(s) to a Library

Browse to your user library and select it -> OK.

Yes to replace and OK -> Close.

Select Tools and under the Utilities section, select Assign Materials. Expand the Libraries section under Material list.

Toggle on Site MatML Library and if the field is blank, browse and select your custom library. Your custom materials are at the end of the list.
