Summary

Details

The ON/OFF status of "Sketch Emphasis" may or may not be retained the next time when editing the sketch. Why does this behavior occur?

Reproduced Steps:

1. New Sketch > View tab >Sketch Emphasis = ON or OFF(change the initial) > Finish Sketch

*** Please change "Sketch Emphasis" to "OFF" or "ON".

*** Please finish Sketch without any updates

2. Part Navigator > select a Sketch feature > Mouse right click > Edit > View tab

*** will be gone back to the initial value before changing in the step 1 above.

Solution

This behavior is working as expected.

Sketch Emphasis setting may or may not be retained even if exiting after changing it. For more, please see NOTES

Notes

If the sketch is updated (addition/deletion of shapes, dimensions, constraints), the current "Sketch Emphasis" setting at the finish of the sketch will be the initial value the next time the sketch is edited. On the other hand, if nothing has been updated, even if you switch "Sketch Enhancement" ON/OFF and exit, the next time you edit, it will return to the state before switching. This behavior is designed to prevent downstream features from being updated for no reason if there are no updates to the sketch, and to avoid impacting performance.

Note: When editing an existing sketch in the same session, the last set state of "Sketch Emphasis" will be used.

However, when creating a new sketch, the initial value is not the last set state, but the value defined in Customer Defaults.

Customer Defaults setting:

File > Utilities > Customer Defaults > Gateway > Visualization > Emphasis > Precedence > Sketch Plane De-emphasis
