Summary

Details

In this scenario, the user has defined a left handed threaded hole on a part.

They then create 3D PMI and add the property indicating the left handed thread direction (%LH) to the Simple (threaded) Feature Callout.

When they create a drawing of the part and 'Retrieve Dimensions' the Left Handed (LH) property is not shown.

Solution

In this instance, the user has modified the Feature Callout text for a simple (threaded) hole to "%TS %ZT%LH" in the part and generated the Callout. Subsequently, the user retrieves it in the drawing, where we reference the active Draft Style to create a new Callout.  However, in the active draft style, the Feature Callout text for a simple threaded hole is "%TZ %ZT", resulting in the omission of "LH" in the Callout.

The important thing to note is that the draft and part templates have separate Styles - the draft style does not refer to the part style.  Therefore, the user needs to create the same style data in both part and draft Styles in order to get the desired results when using 'Retrieve Dimensions'.

To do this the user needs to go to the Draft 'Styles' and select 'Dimension' for their template (e.g. ISO (mm), 'Modify...' then in the 'Feature Callout' tab of 'Modify Dimension Style', click on 'Symbols and Values', and under 'Values' - 'Feature References' select 'Thread Direction' %LH

Simple (threaded) Dimension Style for the Draft template will now include a value for a Left Handed thread

Now, when the user picks 'Retrieve Dimensions' in the Draft file, the left handed thread direction will be indicated.
