During the installation and configuring of a new version of FlexLM License Server an error message comes up: "Failed to start license server".
Furthermore, in the FlexLM install log file there will be the following message:
Error getting status: Cannot connect to license server system. (-15,10:10061 "WinSock: Connection refused")
Consequently, the lmgrd process is not able to start. What may have caused this situation?
SolutionThe reason for this may be in the license file. If there exists a special character anywhere in the license file - which may even occur in the Header/Comment lines of the license - the license file becomes invalid and causes the lmgrd process not to start.
The solution is to edit the license file manually, and to delete or replace the special character, and then after that to restart the License Server.
