There are two types of template parts for each size in the NX installation folder (example: ~NX2212\DRAFTING\templates). I opened them up and looked at their contents, and they look the same. Is there any difference?
Reproduced Steps:
1. Open “Drawing-A4-Size-template.prt” and “Drawing-A-Size2D-template.prt” and compare them.
SolutionThe two types of template parts Siemens provides has the same content, but are used differently depending on NX command used.
“Drawing-A4-Size-template.prt”
- Used when "Reference Existing Part" is selected when creating a new drawing (File > New > Drawing tab) **(1)
“Drawing-A-Size2D-template.prt”
- Used when "Stand-alone Part" is selected when creating a new drawing (File > New > Drawing tab) **(2)
- Used when creating a new sheet with New Sheet command **(3)
Notes"ugs_drawing_templates.pax" specifies the template part that will be used when **(1) and (2) are executed. "ugs_sheet_templates.pax" specifies the template part that will be used when **(3) is executed.
