Solid Edge How to update a FlexLM License Server?

When upgrading to a new version of your Solid Edge software, you may be using Floating Licenses managed by a FlexLM Server.

If there is also a newer version of the FlexLM License Sever software available in Support Center, then this should also be updated at the same time - but how can this be done without too much effort?

The best way to upgrade your License Server Software is to simply download the latest Siemens License Server Software, - which is currently version 2.3.0 - from the Siemens Support Center:

Start the Siemens Installer tool with a Double Click:

The software recognizes any existing License Server software and offers the following options:

Since the software version is changed but not the License file, you only need to select the option "Update License Server Software"

As the software also knows the location of the License Server installation and the License file will not change, there is no need to modify the port settings, so you can just click on “Next”:

The tool will automatically stop the Service and reconfigure it.

Make sure that you allow the License Server access through the Firewall by activating the option shown below - as this is highly recommended:

After clicking on the Next button, the Firewall rules will be created, then the License Service will be started and the License Server update process is completed.

On the last menu you will see the location of the License Server Installation, the ports used, and the information that the installation was successful
