In this scenario shown in the video, in Solid Edge Draft, the user tries to dimension single edges of a contour - a line which is part of a square/rectangle with rounded/filleted corners - using Smart Dimension, but finds it will always select the whole contour, not allowing them to select a linear edge or an arc to which they can apply the desired dimension.
SolutionIn this instance, the contour described was part of a "Swept Cutout" which had the option "Face Merging" set, which results in the face (and therefore any corresponding edges) running around the rectangular cutout being a single one, instead of being composed of straight and circular faces/edges.
As demonstrated in the video, changing "Face Merging" to "No merge" will create individual faces (and therefore individual edges) for the feature. Once the Drawing Views in the drawing are updated, it will be possible to apply dimensions to edges and arcs.
