NX for Design

Summary

Details

After exporting an assembly with multiple unit systems such as MM and Inch to a STEP file and loading (importing) it in the viewer or CAD, the geometries do not exist. No problem for standalone NX, but a problem for Teamcenter integration.

Reproduced Steps:

1. Start NX from Teamcenter portal

2. Create some parts with Multiple Unit Systems in Assembly

3. File > Export > STEP214

 - File tab > select File System as Output File Destination

 - Data to Export tab > select Selected Objects as Export > select all the objects in Graphic > OK

4. The result of opening the exported STEP in NX

Solution

This behavior is due to NX problem and has been fixed in NX 2212.

Workaround:

Make use of “Enter Part” as “Export”

Notes

This issue only occurs in NX 2206 Series, and only occurs with Teamcenter integration.

It occurs in all STEP translator formats (AP203, AP214, AP242).
