NX Design Token licenses are automatically checked-out when NX is started.
NX Design Token license features (nx_design_token) will be automatically checked out when NX is started, if in a previous NX session, the user has accessed an application (or function) that was enabled using tokens.
This can result in the token licenses being consumed unexpectedly and subsequently prevent other users from accessing them.
An example of how this activity is reported in the license server log file (saltd.log) is shown below.
The following entries show that the user 'fred' (on workstation 'CAD1') used the 'NX Performance Predictor' and this was enabled by checking-out 89 'nx_design_token' licenses:
<timestamp> (saltd) OUT: "nx_design_token" fred@CAD1 [nx_perf_predictor]
<timestamp> (saltd) UPGRADE: "nx_design_token" fred@CAD1 [nx_perf_predictor] (1->89 licenses)
The entries below indicate that the user 'joe' (on workstation 'CAD2') was denied access to 'NX Composites' because the number token licenses required (81) were not available:
<timestamp> (saltd) DENIED: "nx_design_token" joe@CAD2 [nx_composites_P1] (Licensed number of users already reached. (-4,342))
Background Information: The NX Value Based Licensing products (NX35050 & NX35100) add 50 or 100 'tokens' (respectively) to the license pool, these enable access to add-on functionality to supplement the core capabilities provided by the NX Mach license bundles.
To release the token licenses, that are allocated when an added-on application is used, the user can do one of two things:
Firstly, select 'File - All Applications - Design' and select the check-mark alongside the application, for example 'Performance Predictor', to return/free the token licenses it is consuming:
Alternatively, on the 'Application' ribbon bar, select the 'Design - Toolbox' pull-down list and select the check-mark alongside the application:
Similarly, the 'Document - Toolbox' pull-down list shows if the PMI (Product & Manufacturing Information) application is active.
If the 'geometric_tol' license, required to access the PMI functionality, was satisfied via tokens then the following entry will appear in the license server log file (and 18 tokens will be consumed):
<timestamp> (saltd) OUT: "nx_design_token" fred@CAD1 [geometric_tol]
<timestamp> (saltd) UPGRADE: "nx_design_token" fred@CAD1 [geometric_tol] (1->18 licenses)
(Removing the check mark from the PMI application will return the token licenses.)
