Solid Edge Why are PMI Dimensions not exported to STEP?

In this scenario, the customer creates a Solid Edge Part that contains Section Views, together with PMI Dimensions.

When exporting the Part to STEP with the option "Export PMI", they notice that when subsequently importing the STEP File with the option "Import PMI", no PMI Dimensions are imported.

The reason for this is that when a Part file contains Section Views, the part is treated internally as an assembly when exporting to STEP.  Consequently, the STEP file will not show any PMI Dimensions when importing the data back in to Solid Edge.

Only by deleting the Section Views before exporting to STEP will the PMI Dimensions be retained.
