In this scenario, a user's 'Threaded' holes mostly requires a setting of 'To hole extent' and therefore wants to know if there is a possibility to change the default of the 'Thread extent' option to 'To hole extent'.
Solution
The option of the 'Thread extent' can be predefined via the 'Binary Value' with the name 'ThreadTypeTapDepthType' which is available in the Registry. Here are the detailed steps how to set 'Thread extent' to 'To hole extent' by default:
Exit Solid Edge
Run the Registry Editor on the operating system
Select 'Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Siemens > Solid Edge > Version 223 > PrefSets > Hole > ThreadTypeTapDepthType' (see below Note 1 in addition)
ThreadTypeTapDepthType - Default
Choose 'Edit > Modify...'
Double click onto the first value "00" in the second row that starts with "00000008" to select the value
'Edit Binary Value' dialog with the selected first value "00" in the second row
Type 01 to replace the value "00" with "01"
'Edit Binary Value' dialog where the first value is replaced with "01"
Quit the 'Edit Binary Value' dialog with the OK button
Check the modified value
ThreadTypeTapDepthType - Modified
Exit the Registry Editor
Start Solid Edge
Create a new hole feature on a model
Notice that the 'Thread extent' option is now set to 'To hole extent'
Notes
The 'Hole' folder in 'Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Siemens > Solid Edge > Version 223 > PrefSets' is not available in an out-of-the-box installation of Solid Edge.
'Hole' folder not available in an out-of-the-box installation
This folder with the default content will be automatically created in the Registry once the user has used the 'Hole' feature command the first time.
