Why is it not possible to edit the SEStatus of a top-level document (Assembly/Draft) only to Release in Design Manager or File Properties, despite having the "Force Top-Down on SEStatus Release" option switched off in the Helpers Tab of the Solid Edge Options dialog box, while operating in an active Solid Edge Data Management environment?
SolutionSince Solid Edge Version 2023 the setting "Force Top Down on SEStatus Release" was implemented to allow or decline that a top-level document and its assembled documents can have individual SEStatus set.
For example, with the per default applied Top-Down Status, components of an assembly must be at least released before you can set the assembly to released. With the setting switched off in the Helpers Tab of the Solid Edge Options dialog box, this will allow user to set the SEStatus of the Assembly individually.
In a Solid Edge Data Management activ setup the "Force Top Down on SEStatus Release" setting has no influence. The user cannot release the top-level file only. Neither in Property Manager, nor in File Properties and Design Manager.
(Exception note: SEStatus change with Property Manager is only possible if "no" Lifecycle Folders set in the SE Options Managed Lifecycle Tab and the Force Top-Down is switched off)
Is there a possibility for environments operating Solid Edge Data Management?
Yes!
With the activated setting "Allow unreleased links" it is possible to change the SEStatus of top-level documents to Release with Design Manager and File Properties even if Solid Edge Data Management is active.
(Exception note: SEStatus change with Property Manager is only possible if "no" Lifecycle Folders set in the SE Options Managed Lifecycle Tab and the Force Top-Down is switched off )
The setting can be set and controlled by running the Solid Edge Administrator - SEAdmin > Options.xml or manually adding the Registry key "Allow unreleased links" to:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Siemens\Solid Edge\Version 223\Global
