Summary

Details

When checking a component name after "Copy/Paste" it, the name of the source component is not inherited and the strings "(" and ")" are replaced with "_". Is this behavior as designed by NX?

Reproduced Steps:

1. Select a component in Assembly Navigator > Mouse right click > select Properties

2. General tab > Name. Change the name of the component, e.g, from “MODEL1” to “MODEL1(test)”

3. Select Apply Name to All Occurrences > OK

4. Copy/Paste the component

5. Perform “Unpack" if component is packed

*** "(" and ")" strings are converted to "_".

Solution

The behavior is working as expected. The special characters “(“, “)” or others which is allowed to use will be converted to “_” automatically after “Copy/Paste”. If you don't want this behavior, Siemens recommend you don't use special characters.

WORKAROUND:

Please change the component name manually after pasting.

Notes

This behavior is the same when creating new components as well.
