How to use the Pattern Relation Finding Scope

Relation Finding Scope: Investigating Input Curves

1.       Open a Sketch.

2.       Choose a line on the drawing that belongs to the result of a Pattern Curve and right click.

3.       Choose Edit.

4.       In the Pattern Curve dialog, verify that the Relation Finding Scope is set to Input Curves.

-          Input Curves: The solver finds relations only to the input curves you patterned and does not find relations to the pattern instances.

5.       Click OK.

6.       The instances patterned along the row and column of the original will be altered according to any changes made to the original pattern.

7.       Any undesirable relations can simply be clicked to relax and return to normal.

Relation Finding Scope: Investigating No Finding to Pattern

1.       Open a Sketch.

2.       Choose a line on the drawing that belongs to the result of a Pattern Curve and right click.

3.       Choose Edit.

4.       In the Pattern Curve dialog, verify that the Relation Finding Scope is set to No Finding to Pattern.

-          No Finding to Pattern: The solver does not find relations to either the input curves you patterned or to the pattern instances.

5.       Click OK.

6.       The instances patterned along the row of the original will be altered according to any changes made to the original pattern.

7.       Any undesirable relations can simply be clicked to relax and return to normal.

Relation Finding Scope: Investigating Selected Instances

1.       Open a Sketch.

2.       Choose a line on the drawing that belongs to the result of a Pattern Curve and right click.

3.       Choose Edit.

4.       In the Pattern Curve dialog, verify that the Relation Finding Scope is set to Selected Instances.

-          Selected Instances: The solver finds relations only to the pattern instances you select.

5.       Select the desired instances.

6.       Click Ok.

7.       The instances selected will be altered according to any changes made to the original pattern.

8.       Any undesirable relations can simply be clicked to relax and return to normal.

Relation Finding Scope: Investigating All of Pattern

9.       Open a Sketch.

10.   Choose a line on the drawing that belongs to the result of a Pattern Curve and right click.

11.   Choose Edit.

12.   In the Pattern Curve dialog, verify that the Relation Finding Scope is set to All of Pattern.

-          All of Pattern: The solver finds relations to both the input curves you patterned and all pattern instances.

13.   Click Ok.

14.   All instances will be altered according to any changes made to the original pattern.

15.   Any undesirable relations can simply be clicked to relax and return to normal.
