NX for Design

Summary

Details

Sketch dimensions were created as Interpart Expression using dimension values of objects that exist in other components. In the previous NX, for example, "model1::p1" was displayed as the value and it was possible to visually know the name of the component part to refer to, but as far as checking NX 1953 and higher cannot display the name.

Reproduced Steps:

1. Open a NX part which used Interpart Expression in NX 9 or lower.

2. Confirm the Interpart Expression

The behavior in NX 10 and higher : The component name is not displayed in the expression.

The behavior in NX 9 and lower : The component name is displayed in the expression.

Solution

This behavior is working as designed and the same with all NX Series in NX 10 and higher. In addition, this is due to the changes according to the enhancement in NX 10.

WORKAROUND:

It is not possible to display permanently the part name referred to in the formula, but it is possible to temporarily pop up it by selecting sketch dimension > "Edit" > hovering the mouse cursor over the formula input field.
