What calculation is used to determine the ShaftDiameter (Shaft Diameter) in the thread table?
Solution
The ShaftDiameter values are the legacy values from the old thread .dat files.
There is no current calculation for ShaftDiameter. You will simply enter a value for your needed application that is between the Minor and Major Diameter.
This information will be added to NX Help documentation as a resolve for PR #8614993:
Shaft Diameter
- Appears when you select a cylindrical face for an external thread.
- Displays the shaft diameter of the cylinder as supplied by the thread standard or entered manually.
- The shaft diameter value must be between the Minor Diameter and Major Diameter.
The Shaft Size is populated from the NX_Threaded_Hole_Standard.xml, you may edit the values in that file if you have specific values for your application.
