How to Overlay a Sketch onto an Imported Image

Importing the Image

1.       Open the Mode.

2.       In the Top Border Bar, choose Menu -> Insert -> Datum -> Raster Image.

3.       Select the plane the image will be imported onto.

4.       In the Image Definition group, select Choose Image File.

5.       Navigate to the folder containing the image and select it.

-          Note: If the image isn’t visible, change the file type to match the image’s file type.

6.       Click OK.

7.       Using the axis, manipulate the image to the desired position.

-          Note: The size of the image can also be altered using the handles at its corners. Choose Lock Aspect Ratio to preserve the width and height ratio.

8.       Click OK.

Creating the Sketch

1.       Choose the Home tab -> Construction group -> Sketch.

2.       Select the plane the image is located on.

3.       Click OK.

4.       Create the desired sketch.

-          Note: This process isn’t intended to be precise. Instead, it gives the user a starting point that can be refined later in the design process.

5.       Click Finish.

6.       Click on the image and right click. Select Hide. The sketch will now be clearly visible.
