Solid Edge Replace component in all occurences of all assemblies where it is used

In this scenario the customer is switching their data management system from Insight to Teamcenter.  In Insight they were able to replace a component in all assemblies where it was used.  They would like to do the same in Teamcenter.

They have tried to do that with Structure Editor, but were unable to get it to work.

What process do they need to follow in Teamcenter in order to do this?

The way to do this is to use Mass Update in Teamcenter itself, with the prerequisite of setting the SEEC Preference SEEC_BOM_Synchronize=TRUE.

Here an example of the workflow:

Two assembly files have the same component (000249.par)

In Teamcenter select the Item Revision with the Solid Edge Part that is to replace 0000249/A

Start the Mass Update:

Open the Assembly 000251/A in Solid Edge Embedded client (SEEC) - as a BOM Synchronization is required.  Click 'Yes' to synchronize.

The Part is now replaced in the assembly structure.
