In this scenario, the customer has a Node Locked License of Solid Edge and has an additional Solid Edge included CAM Pro license because they have Solid Edge under Maintenance.
When trying to install Solid Edge CAM PRO, the User Interface asks for the License Server Install location and the License File Directory.
However, as they have no Floating license, and therefore do not need a License Server, they browse to their Node Locked license location and install. After that the CAM PRO product will not start. What might be the reason?
SolutionThe first thing to know is that CAM PRO is originally an NX product.
As such, the product is expecting a floating License with a FlexLM License server, but this is not needed in this instance. As a result, after the Installation , the variable SPLM_LICENSE_SERVER - which should, for a Node Locked License, point to the license file - has the value 28000@localhost , which would work if there were a FLoating License on that machine, but not for a Node Locked License.
The solution is to Click on Start, then enter 'System Variable':
After clicking on "Edit the System Environment Variables", you will see the System Variables:
You need to change the value of the Variable SPLM_LICENSE_SERVER to be the same as SE_LICENSE_SERVER, i.e. in this case to C:\test\License.lic - the path to the correct Node Locked license file.
Simply edit the variable and make the change.
After that CAM PRO is ready to start.
