NX Toopath to Engrave Letter K or X using Planar Mill

Using Planar Mill Profile the toolpath generated on the letters like K or X incorrect.

The Planar Mill Profile cut pattern would merge the toolpath by tool radius offset if the boundary are closed enough. It is effect of 2D Boolean operation.

In order to get the desired toolpath in case of Text it is recommended to use Planar Mill Standard Drive cut patter.

Choose Planar milling Standard Drive cut pattern and turn off the self-intersection or non cutting move collision check, it will work fine. 

The curve drive operation works fine in such case because it is a 3d contour toolpath operation and will not consider the 2D boolean effect like planar milling. So the drive curve could get projected to the target part even they are closed enough as self-intersection.
