NX How to properly manage the Flexlm options file within the brand new Siemens License Server V2.1.0

The latest NX release mandatorily requires customers to update their Siemens license manager from the old generation, based on the common SPLM ugslmd vendor daemon, to the latest Siemens license server, based on the saltd vendor daemon; the installer can quickly update any previous Siemens PLM Licensing and inherit/reuse the license file currently used (tweaking it to properly set the saltd vendor daemon and the TCP/IP ports) but any existing options file (by default, ugslmd.opt stored in the same folder along the ugslmd vendor daemon and the lic. file) will not be transferred to the the new license manager.

Hence customer can legitimately wonder how to properly manage the flexlm options file within the new license server.

Customers will have to manually transfer and reuse their flexlm license file to the new license manager.

Basically the rules to preset a flexlm options file haven't changed at all: by default the options file can be named as the vendor daemon (now saltd) and saved in the same folder where the license file is stored; furthermore one can always name and store it as needed, but in that case the options file being used must be linked within the license file.

Hence, by default, without any further action/change within the license file, license administrators can simply name their options file as saltd.opt and store it along the license file within the C:\ProgramData\Siemens\License Server\ActiveLicenses folder

After restarting the license service that options file will be automatically (by default) read.

As mentioned above, administrators can opt for the possibility to name it as needed (e.g. ugslmd.opt as they were used to) and even to store it wherever they want/need: in that case however they will have to link it within their license file, as detailed below (double quotes needed only when blanks are embedded in paths/names).

We recommend to use the OPTIONS keyword in uppercase.

After any change, either in the options file or the license file, administrators won't forget to reboot the license service (we do reiterate that Rereading the license file within the licensing tool UI, Lmtools > Start/Stop/Reread tab, won't work, you will have to restart the license service).
